What do YOU want from an all-weather sports facility?
An all-weather sports and recreation facility in Stonehaven is quickly becoming a reality. The proposal, fronted by Stonehaven & District Community Council and supported by Stonehaven Town Partnership, has short-listed possible sites in the town although no decision has been made as yet to the final location.
Speaking about the project, S&DCC leader, Mike Innes, said “ Although the main purpose is for an outdoor all-weather sport playing area where many sports could be played, the facility is for community use and those involved in dance, drama, zumba and the like could benefit from the facilities provided in the pavilion. The views of such groups are welcome as we have an opportunity to provide up-to-date facilities for them but they need to get involved in the consultation.”
Current estimates suggest that the project will cost in excess of £600,000 and already Aberdeenshire Council has promised £320,000 towards the cost.
Mike went on to say that a questionnaire was available which would give the project leaders a feel for what facilities were wanted. He encouraged as many organisations as possible to complete and return this to either himself or STP secretary, David Fleming. The questionnaire can be downloaded by clicking the link below. The closing date for submissions is 5.00 pm on 16th December.
